The Challenge
Our charge was to make the biggest splash about the new flagship product in the simplest, shortest way possible.
The Idea
ActivPanel 10 was meant to be a huge deal, and the marketing team put a lot of effort into hyping it up before the launch. We even created a teaser video three months prior. I knew the launch video had to be BIG—the most different thing we'd ever done—so the 3D models made a comeback in a big way.
The Execution
It would be a while before panels arrived in warehouses, so this video would be the only visual of the product at work for a while. Every panel looks alike, but I still thought it was important to show off its angles so customers and partners could see the buttons and the new style of front panel.
Conceptually, this video was a challange because we needed to show things that could only be experienced like sound and video quality. Sound quality was easier with just some representation of sound happening. For video, I used a vertex map to transition from a dark screen image to a bright, saturated one.
