New SaaS Product Launch

A clear, guided introduction to a new SaaS product designed to reduce friction for existing users.

Role

The Challenge

This project supported our first successful shift to a SaaS model.

Historically, our audience—primarily educators—was used to receiving software for free, so introducing a paid “Pro” version alongside a free “Lite” version required a more thoughtful approach. We needed to clearly communicate the value of the new product without alienating our existing users.

The Approach

I treated this less like a traditional explainer and more like a guided introduction.

The goal was to make the software feel approachable while clearly showing what it does and why it matters—especially for users who may have been hesitant about the shift to a paid model.

Key Decisions

  • Structure the content in a way that gradually builds understanding, rather than overwhelming the viewer
  • Focus on clarity and flow so users could quickly grasp the purpose of the product
  • Balance screen visuals with supporting motion to keep the content engaging without overcomplicating it

Result

A clear, approachable introduction to a new SaaS product that supported a broader marketing effort and helped communicate the value of the Pro offering while maintaining trust with existing users.
